🦄 Taiwan’s Newest Software Unicorn: Owlting Debuts on Nasdaq with a $4.9B Market Cap
On October 16, 2025, Taiwan-based startup Owlting (OBOOK Holdings, Nasdaq: OWLS) made its official debut on the Nasdaq Global Market through a direct listing, becoming one of the few Taiwanese software companies to go public on a U.S. main board under its own brand.
According to Nasdaq data, Owlting opened as high as $90 and closed at $40.49, reaching a market capitalization of approximately US$4.91 billion (NT$1.57 trillion). Despite a volatile first trading day, one thing is now certain —
💡 Owlting had already crossed the “unicorn threshold” before going public.

📈 From Valuation to Market Capitalization: A Defining Leap for Taiwan’s Startup Scene
Because Owlting chose a direct listing rather than a traditional IPO, there was no public fundraising or pre-listing pricing. As a result, its exact private valuation was never disclosed.
However, based on its first-day closing market cap, it’s reasonable to infer that Owlting’s pre-listing valuation had already exceeded the US$1 billion unicorn benchmark — and likely by a significant margin.
In venture capital terms, a “unicorn” refers to a private company valued at over US$1 billion.
But when a company achieves that scale and then successfully lists on a global exchange, it’s often recognized as a “unicorn-level startup” or an “ex-unicorn” — a graduate of the unicorn stage that has entered the public market.
In other words:
While Owlting is no longer a private unicorn, its debut confirms that Taiwan has produced a new unicorn-level software company in 2025 — one that has made it to the global capital stage.

🌏 Taiwan’s Software Unicorn Lineage: Appier, 91APP, Perfect Corp., and Now Owlting
Owlting’s appearance adds another layer to Taiwan’s growing portfolio of internationally listed software startups.
From Appier (AI SaaS) to 91APP (e-commerce SaaS),
and Perfect Corp. (AR Beauty Tech),
each represents a distinct pathway of “Taiwan software going global.”
Now, Owlting joins this lineup as Taiwan’s latest FinTech + Blockchain SaaS success story —
a company that has achieved unicorn-level scale and global visibility through Nasdaq.
Together, these four companies form a new constellation of Taiwan’s software champions:
From AI and e-commerce to AR beauty tech and blockchain finance,
Taiwan’s new generation of software startups is proving its place on the world stage.

💻 From Travel Platform to Financial Infrastructure
Founded in 2013, Owlting’s journey spans more than a decade — from a travel and hospitality platform to a blockchain-based financial infrastructure provider.
Its parent company, OBOOK Holdings Inc., now operates across:
- Owlting Travel (hospitality e-commerce)
- OwlPay (stablecoin and blockchain payments)
- Enterprise FinTech cloud infrastructure
This evolution makes Owlting one of the few Taiwanese startups to truly integrate FinTech, SaaS, and blockchain technology into a global business model.

🚀 Not Just a Future Unicorn — A Realized One
Owlting may no longer be a “private unicorn,”
but its valuation and international presence mark a new phase for Taiwan’s startup ecosystem.
Beyond semiconductors, Taiwan is building new global stories — through software, SaaS, and blockchain innovation.
🦄 Owlting’s Nasdaq debut is more than just a valuation milestone;
it’s a sign that Taiwan’s software startups are now stepping confidently into the global capital arena.

在創投實務中,「獨角獸」一詞代表估值達 10 億美元以上的未上市公司;

從 Appier(AI SaaS)、91APP(電商 SaaS)、
Perfect Corp.(AR Beauty Tech),

(Owlting Travel)
