Yesterday marked Day 3 of IBM Think 2025, and I spent most of the time in the Partner Zone, where many startups that leverage IBM technologies were exhibiting. Although this area was less crowded than the main floor, it was full of inspiring ideas. Below are a few standout startups I had in-depth conversations with:
Sirion – AI-Powered LawTech in Action
Sirion is a LawTech startup that showcased how AI can support contract generation, review, and management. Their system can analyze a large volume of legal documents and provide intelligent search and summarization through a natural language interface — helping legal and procurement teams work more efficiently. During our discussion, we also exchanged insights on practical pain points in contract governance.

Seismic – IBM’s Own Sales Enablement Platform
Seismic provides a global Sales Enablement Platform that not only integrates IBM watsonx AI but is also used internally by IBM’s global sales teams. Their demo showed how sales reps can easily access the right content and AI-recommended responses, enabling better client engagement.

Smart Analytics – From Japanese SPSS to AI Assistant
This Japan-based startup not only distributes IBM SPSS but has also developed its own AI assistant service powered by IBM watsonx. They expressed strong interest in collaborating with Taiwanese companies — not only in joint product development but also in expanding their reach beyond Japan into Taiwan and the greater Asia-Pacific market.

OpenLegacy – Breathing New Life into Legacy Systems
OpenLegacy impressed me with a highly practical concept: using IBM watsonx Code Assistant to help legacy systems quickly generate APIs. This allows organizations to access data or run business logic from old systems — such as Cobol — in a modern way, giving them a new lease on life.

Box – A Startup Zone Surprise
To my surprise, among all these early-stage companies was Box, the well-established content management giant that went public on Nasdaq in 2015 and has a market cap exceeding $4 billion! Instead of being placed with Adobe or Palo Alto in the enterprise area, Box was quietly exhibiting in the startup zone — prompting me to jokingly suggest they protest to IBM!

Some Regrets, But a Day Rich in Discovery
One minor regret: not all startups were present every day. Some only showcased during the first two days, which means I likely missed a few exceptional teams by focusing on the Partner Zone on Day 3. A reminder to allocate time for early exploration next time!
In addition to sharing their technologies and solutions, we also exchanged a wide range of startup experiences — from fundraising and product development to team building and overseas expansion. It was especially clear that many of them are very interested in the Asia-Pacific market, and see Taiwan’s strength in the high-tech sector as a valuable partner opportunity. Many expressed willingness to explore collaboration and even potential investment partnerships.
Meaningful Interactions That Spark Future Possibilities
Connecting with startup leaders from various countries felt personal and inspiring — especially as someone who has worked at multiple startups and is now an investor in AI and NFC ventures. I exchanged business cards and LinkedIn contacts with many, and I’m truly looking forward to potential future collaborations.

Sirion:AI

Seismic:IBM

Box:
